Jaggery-Powdered, Date Palm
Date palm jaggery, also known as Khejur Gur is a healthier alternative to white refined sugar. As the name suggests it is jaggery made from the date palm trees. Its deep rich, caramel flavour, seasonal and finite presence makes it the most sought after amongst the various kinds of jaggery.
Date palm jaggery is the key ingredient in most of West Bengal’s winter confections. In winters, the morning sap of the date palm trees is collected in earthen pots. The sap is then boiled till it concentrates to a certain consistency and then poured into moulds. The date palm jaggery is used in three forms: liquid, solid blocks and granular. The granular form is the easiest to use and store.
Date palm jaggery is unrefined and thus rich in essential nutrients and minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium and phosphorus. Our date palm jaggery is devoid of any chemical preservative.
It is a common practice to consume a few grams of jaggery after meals. This aids in digestion, it also helps in cleansing the respiratory tract, food pipe, lung, stomach and intestines.
Our powdered date palm jaggery can be used as a substitute to refined sugar in tea, coffee or any other beverage, in desserts such as kheer, cakes or any other.
Storage Instructions – Please store in an airtight container , and place it in a cool and dry place. Refrigeration increases the shelf life.
