As the name suggests, this rice is offered to Lord Vishnu during festivals in Bengal. This fragrant white rice is traditionally used to prepare bhog or food offering to Lord Vishnu at the Jagganath temple.
The aroma, taste and flavour is unique to West Bengal and has even been allotted the georgaphical indication tag of West Bengal by the Government of India.
